“Agricultural Mountain”, an (Agri)Culture phenomena
Agricultural Mountain opened, another project integrated in
Performance Architecture, contest that aimed to promote the construction of temporary structures, exploring architecture practices that substitute the perennial construction by actions, happenings and temporary urban interventions.
Agricultural Mountain is extremely noticeable, to be found next to the highway linking Silvares’ roundabout and Alfredo Pimenta’s lane. Reminding a donjon or an outpost, Agricultural Mountain is a pyramidal volume built by stacking straw’ bales. All in all, this installation has about 16 metres and counts with a hollow platform, three metres above the ground. Located in Creixomil’s area, this is the forth intervention to be conceived by the contest.
Through the contribute of new ideas, Performance Architecture thinks architecture interventions that refer to the role of the body awareness and the social critic in the reinvention of the public space. This contest’s curator is the architect Pedro Gadanho and the other installations are located in various parts of the city.
