Guimarães 2012 European Capital of Culture official logo was designed by João Campos, who is the winner of the logo design contest promoted by Fundação Cidade de Guimarães and Centro Português de Design.

STAGE 1 – CANDIDACY SUBMISSION

Ninety candidates competed, by submitting CV and portfolio. Ten candidates were selected (both offices and individual designers), moving into Stage 2.
STAGE 2 - CONCEPT PRESENTATION
29th and 30th of April 2010
Presentation of the first concepts, on a rigid A2 format (maximum of two proposals per candidate).

Technical Committee
The proposals submitted to the contest were object of a preliminary analysis and selection in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd stages, which were validated by Fundação Cidade de Guimarães and by a Technical Committee, composed of 5 elements:
